The Bolivian-Albanian Soprano Carolina López Moreno, born and raised in Germany, is a versatile, award winning artist, who is holding a bachelor degree with award at the State University of Music and Performing Arts Stuttgart, Germany where she also studied Master of Opera at the "Opernschule" under Professor Ulrike Sonntag. She is currently studying at Manhattan School of Music in her second-year Master Degree under Edith Bers.
Ms. López received the Gerda Lissner Foundation Prize 2019, won the Grand Award of the Manhattan International Music Competition 2019 and the gold medal for the 2019 International Collegiate Singing Championship. She is New York District Finals Winner of Season 2018/19 Metropolitan Opera National Council Competition and First Grand Prize winner of the Berliner International Music Competition 2018. She was awarded a Special Prize at the German TV production SWR Young Opera Stars 2018 and released in the same year her debut recital album ‘Il bel sogno’ with ARS-Production Records. She is also recipient of the “DAAD Scholarship” of the German Academic Exchange Service, “Bayreuth Scholarship” of Richard Wagner Federation and the “German Talent Scholarship” of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research. She starred in Germany and NYC as the leading soprano in; Saverio Mercadate’s I DUE FIGARO (Susanna), Nino Rota's I DUE TIMIDI (Mariuccia), STREET SCENE (Rose Maurrant), DIALOGUES DES CARMELITES (Blanche) and DIE ZAUBERFLÖTE (Pamina). She has performed as a soloist in major works such as Bizet’s TE DEUM and Orff’s CARMINA BURANA. In addition, she has given recitals in prestigious concert venues such as the Carnegie Hall, the Metropolitan Club, the Berliner Philharmonie, the Jugendstil-Festhalle Landau, Cambridge University in England and a concert tour in Italy.
Future engagements include her role debuts as Violetta in Giuseppe Verdi’s LA TRAVIATA and the Soprano Solo of Ethal Smyth’s MASS IN D at the National Cathedral in Washington with conductor Steven Fox and the Cathedral Choral Society.

Carolina López Moreno has won the First Prize at the American Vocal Arts 2019 International Collegiate Singing Championship
"The winners have been chosen from all over the world. The competition, sponsored by American Vocal Arts, emphasizes competitive collegiate singing that spans across borders. The goal of the competition is to award the best singers from around the world who are currently enrolled or have recently graduated from an undergraduate or graduate program in music. The winners were selected based on talent, potential, and overall presentation."
Carolina López Moreno has won the "First Grand Prize" of the Berlin International Music Competition 2018 in the Voice category.
The prizewinners concert will take place on September 26th 2018 at 8 pm at the Kammermusiksaal of the Berliner Philharmonie. Carolina will be perform a 30 minute recital among the other 3 winners of the categories piano, strings and winds.
Carolina starts furiously in her first semester in New York:
In December 2018, she will be performing a principal role at the Opera Theater of the Manhattan School of Music. She considers it a great honor and challenge to take over the role of Mariuccia in the opera "I Due Timidi" by Nino Rota. The Italian composer Nino Rota (1911-1979) has made himself a big name as one of the most famous film music composers of his time and received the Oscar for the first two parts of „The Godfather“ trilogy by Francis Ford Coppola in 1975. Carolina is very happy to get an intense insight into the composers work with this production.
Carolina performed Rose Maurrant in the premiere of Street Scene at the Wilhelma Theater in Stuttgart.

Starting this fall, Carolina López Moreno will continue her Master at the Manhattan School of Music in New York.
She is very very proud and happy and excited about the challenges and possibilities, that this prestigious school will offer.
On June 3rd 2018 Kurt Weill’s Opera "Street Scene“ - a production of the Stuttgart Opera school - will take place at the Wilhelma Theater. In this production Carolina López Moreno will perform the role of Rose Maurrant

On January 20th 2018 the Emmerich Smola Sponsoring Contest took place in the Jugendstil-Festival Hall in Landau.
Since 2001 the SWR promotes and presents in the TV series “SWR Young Opera stars” the most exciting and talented musicians of the young classical music scene. In this year, it was my honour to be part of this prestigious competition.
